Chandigarh Mayor Election Result: BJP Shakes Up Punjab Politics, INDIA Alliance Faces Setback

'Cheating in broad daylight': AAP-Congress share video of Chandigarh mayor polls

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress jointly released a video depicting the Presiding Officer of the Chandigarh mayoral election, held on Tuesday, allegedly manipulating ballot papers. The AAP raised rigging allegations following the declaration of the BJP candidate as the winner, with 8 votes from the INDIA bloc candidates being invalidated.

It's worth noting that the elections, initially scheduled for January 18, were postponed to February 6 due to the presiding officer's ill health, but were conducted on Tuesday following an order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Sharing the video, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring accused the BJP of being "hell-bent on murdering democracy," emphasizing, "The attached video clearly shows the presiding officer manipulating votes."

Raja Warring expressed broader concerns, stating, "Today’s incident is not just concerning the political class—it should concern every parent, every student, and every citizen of this country. Do we want such a future for our kids? Do we want a dictatorship? If the answer is no, it’s time to fight back, or it will soon be too late."
